5 Tips on How to Find the Coupons You Want

#1: Complain or Complement the Manufacturer

I took a coupon class from Amy the Savvy Shopper from Savvy Shopper Deals. A great tip she gave is to call the manufacturer for coupons. She had a great story about a time she found a black clump in her bag of chips. She called the company to complain and she got a free bag of chips and free salsa. Amy said that if you call the company to complain or complement they will send you great coupons that you wouldn’t be able to find elsewhere.

Another example of this is when I called Huggies to ask if I could sign up to receive coupons. They sent me out free samples and booklets full of coupons, and continued to send booklets out each month. Amy the Savvy Shopper says this is because it’s rare for customers to call manufacturers, so they really like to make sure you are a happy customer and they value your opinion.

#2: Find the Manufacturer Online

Often times a manufacturer will offer great coupons on their website, Facebook, or Twitter. Manufacturers will sometimes ask you to sign up for offers, but then they will email you great coupons for their products.

#3: Find Peelies, Catalinas, and Blinkies.

Peelies are coupons that are on the containers of the products you want. You will see these peelies when you go out shopping. Sometimes there will be a peelie on one container and not on another, so take a peek at a few of them to make sure you don’t miss a peelie.

Catalinas are coupons that print out with your receipt. When you buy a name brand, a coupon for that brand may print out with your receipt for your next purchase. You can ask a store employee about their Catalinas to help you know which items will print out catalina coupons and which items wont.

Blinkies are great coupons that are in the little machines in your grocery store with a blinking light. You can take as many as you want of these, however be kind and share with other customers.

#4: Check for Printable Coupons and Ecoupons

Often times printable coupons and ecoupons are coupons that you won’t find in your paper.  Some great sites for these coupons are: coupons.com, cellfire.com, smartsource.com, and redplum.com.

#5: Use Your Customer Loyalty Card

Stores such as Kroger, will examine what you buy each month using your customer loyalty card, and then they will send you coupons for that item. For example, if you purchase a lot of Jif peanut butter, Kroger will send you coupons for Jif. This is a great way to get additional coupons for things you really want.
