Wait! Don’t Throw Out That Coupon!

Have you even seen a coupon in your insert and thought, “I’ll never use that” or “Even with a coupon that is way too expensive of a product”? Before you throw it out, read two reasons why you should NEVER throw out a coupon before it expires. You can learn from my mistakes and save a lot of heart ache, trust me!

#1 Excuse to Throw a Coupon Away: “I’ll Never Use This Coupon.”

1st Mistake:

I am sure you have seen all the Chuck E Cheese coupons in your coupon inserts. They always have great deals on birthday parties, and coupons for double the tokens. I had at least nine coupons for Chuck E Cheese in my coupon binder. I decided that I would never use them and threw them away. Well, plans changed for my daughter’s birthday, and I am now planning on throwing her a party at, you guessed it, Chuck E Cheese! Now I don’t have my awesome coupons so I will be paying full price for the birthday party and the tokens. I tried to go online and sign up for their newsletters to hopefully get a coupon, but I still haven’t received any coupons! What a hassle, I sure wish I had my coupons that I thought I would “never use!”

#2 Excuse to Throw a Coupon Away: “Even With a Coupon, the Product is Still too Expensive.”

2nd Mistake:

I recently had three coupons for Dawn dish soap. The coupons were for 50 cents off one Dawn dish liquid. I went to Wal-Mart to buy some and I noticed that Dawn dish soap is at least twice as much as the off brand. I decided to get the off brand and I left my Dawn dish soap coupons at Wal-Mart for someone else to use. Well, the very next week I was checking the drug store ads and to my surprise, Dawn dish soap was on sale for 99 cents! That was already cheaper than the off brands even without a coupon! What makes it even worse is that the Wal-Mart by me price matches and doubles coupons! I could have taken home three things of Dawn dish soap for absolutely FREE! I am sure the person who picked up my coupons that I left at Wal-Mart is a very happy person right now.

Learn from my mistakes and keep ALL your coupons until they expire. You never know if you might need the coupon, or if the coupon will make the item free. It’s a sad, sad thing to pay full price for something you could have got for cheaper or even for FREE!
